As part of the Wilnecote Careers’ program students in Year 11 experienced what it is like to attend a formal interview.
A group of fifteen professionals, ranging from business managers and directors of companies to health practitioners gave up their time to support he event.
Students were asked to prepare a Curriculum Vitae, in their English lesson and then bring it along to the interview. Included in their CV was their predicted grades and reference contacts which would be checked if they were going to be appointed to the position in the job or career. Also included in the CV is the student’s Personal statement which outlines their skills and abilities, strengths and weaknesses, together with any experience they have gained in the ‘World of Work’ environment.
Each student will be involved in a 15 minute interview followed by a 5 minute feedback session on how they performed and advice and tips to help aid their preparation for their next interview.
This will prepare the students for the interviews they will be asked to attend once they have applied to join either a sixth form, college or start an apprenticeship with a company.
